Vikings have second-lowest money on injured reserve

One of the toughest parts of running a team in the National Football League is dealing with injuries, especially to key players on the team. During training camp, we saw a litany of major injuries to key players. The Vikings have seen that happen including last season with Irv Smith Jr.

The tough part about injuries is that you have little to no control over who these injuries occur and when they happen. Luckily for the Vikings, they have had quite a bit of luck in that department.

Per Jason Fitzgerald of Over The Cap, the Vikings have the second-lowest amount of salary on injured reserve, NFI and PUP.

With just over 3.77 million committed on those lists, the Vikings have just five players all at or near the minimum. Thomas Heningan, Olabisi Johnson and Kenny Willekes are all out for the season on injured reserve and Blake Proehl and Ryan Connelly are on the PUP list.

The hope is that the Vikings don’t have to add any more names to injured reserve moving forward.
