The Minnesota Vikings have many holes on their roster they need to fill, especially on defense. There is hope that with the hiring of Brian Flores as defensive coordinator, the team can try and rebuild the defense on the fly. In order to do that, they’ll need help at the cornerback position, where they only have three players under contract for next season.
Josh Edwards of CBS Sports released his mock draft Saturday and had the Vikings selecting Mississippi State cornerback Emmanuel Forbes.
“No cornerback can contest Emmanuel Forbes’ production over the course of his career with 14 interceptions and six being returned for a touchdown.”
Forbes, while being a smaller cornerback, is not afraid to get physical. He’s known for his tackling and run support, but he’s also really good in pass coverage and shows off great ball skills. He also ran a 4.35 40-yard dash with a 1.48 40-yard split.
While Forbes is a good player, I struggle with the Vikings selecting him here only because of his slender build, which is similar to Cam Dantzler’s. The Vikings will be targeting corners in the draft, but ideally, they are bigger in stature.
