Vijayawada police crack elderly woman’s murder case, arrest accused

VIJAYAWADA: The city police have cracked the murder case of an elderly woman reported on May 5 at Punnami Thota area. Police arrested a man who killed the woman for money and valuables, on Sunday. The accused was identified as old tenant of the deceased woman Jupudi Hymavathi (65).

Police had received call on emergency number 112 on the night of May 5. Suryaraopet police rushed to the spot and found Hymavathi in a pool of blood at her home. Four teams were formed to investigate the case under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) D Mary Prashanthi. Police collected some crucial evidence from the crime scene and with the help of CCTV footage and other technical data, they zeroed in on the accused.
