Good Morning Britain viewers were not pleased about Stanley Johnson 's appearance on the show earlier this morning.
Fans of the programme slammed the show for giving the star 'airtime' and asked if GMB is planning to interview the parents of all potential candidates running to be the next leader of the Tory party - with one viewer even claiming Stanley was 'given the soft soap treatment' during his time on the show.
Boris Johnson's dad spoke with presenters Kate Garraway and Adil Ray on the ITV show to discuss his son Boris Johnson 's potential return to 10 Downing Street later this month, following Prime Minister Liz Truss sensationally resigning from her position yesterday.
Stanley - who appeared on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in 2017 - didn't give any confirmation if his son is set make a major comeback but did admit Johnson 'didn't go quietly' when he stepped down from his position less than two month ago.
"I'm going to listen to what the candidates have to say," Stanley explained on the ITV show, adding: "I'm pretty sure I'm going to support Boris."
"I'm speaking as a voter but I'm going to make sure [Johnson] sticks to the 2019 manifesto and make sure he doesn't proceed with Jacob Rees-Mogg's absurd bill that would scrap environmental laws," the reality TV star continued.
"I'm hoping Boris would take a hard line with Mogg," he added, before declaring: "The Tories are trashing their environmental record - Boris made that record!"
As Kate mused how Johnson seemingly couldn't count on his dad's vote, Stanley described himself as 'a serious political person' and said: "I'm for him [but with conditions]."
He also spoke against a general election if Johnson was to become the Conservative Party leader once again, claiming: "If Boris was the candidate he can carry forward the 2019 manifesto and it would be reasonable to go forward to do that if he emerged as [the new PM]."
As Stanley offered his political insight on Good Morning Britain, viewers took to social media to slam the ITV show for inviting the star on.
"So #GMB have got Stanley Johnson on this morning. What the f**k has he got to say that anyone needs to hear!? Don't they realise it's this kind of bullsh*t personality politics that has turned this country into a skip fire in the first place? We're a laughing stock," one unimpressed fan raged on Twitter.
"Stanley Johnson-another covid rule breaking parasite being interviewed on #gmb," another fumed, as a third declared: "#GMB IF YOU ARE HAVING STANLEY JOHNSON ON THEN SHAME ON YOU GMB. SHAME ON YOU."
"Please stop giving Stanley Johnson airtime. #gmb I don't care what he thinks," one angry tweet began, adding: "I don't recall you interviewing Liz Truss ' dad?"
Some questioned if the star had been let off a grilling, tweeting: "Stanley Johnson is being given the soft soap treatment on #gmb as if he’s a cuddly national treasure and as if we are meant to have forgotten what an odious character we know he is. And that’s before we even begin to talk about the rotten fruit of his loins."
Earlier on this morning's edition of Good Morning Britain, political commentator Iain Dale warned viewers he wouldn't be surprised to see Johnson return to 10 Downing Street later this month - saying: "Boris is Boris and he will do what he likes."
Speaking alongside former Labour Party politician Jacqui Smith, Iain told Susanna Reid live from Westminster: "Tory backbenchers are a law upon themselves so I wouldn't be surprised if he gets the 100 [nominations to proceed to the ballot]."
