Countless Glasgow musicians told their tales of the Barrowlands for a new documentary, which has gone down a treat with viewers.
The Barrowland Roar, which aired on New Year’s Day on BBC Alba and is available now on BBC iPlayer, saw acts like The Fratellis, Mogawi and Franz Ferdinand celebrate the heritage of the beloved venue.
Presented by Isle of Lewis musician Iain ‘Spanish’ Mackay ahead of his first show at the venue, the show detailing his experience as he looked to others who had taken to the stage for advice.

He also spoke to staff at the venue, such as doorman Willie Thomson whose passion for the building runs so deep he has the world famous sign tattooed on his body. Iain rounds off the show by joining the band Trail West on stage, to perform his own songs for the first time.
After the documentary came out, viewers have taken to social media in their droves to praise it. Mark J Smith tweeted: “Completely brilliant documentary on BBC Alba, The Barrowland Roar.
“Featuring recollections and stories about The Barrowlands venue, the audiences, the bands, and its cultural importance in Scotland and around the world.”
Margaret Bryce was in agreement: “The Barrowland Roar, a must see documentary for anyone who’s been to this iconic venue - and for those who haven’t, an insight into what you’re missing.”

The Tenementals, a Glasgow based band, said: “What a joy to watch the BBC Alba documentary The Barrowland Roar.
