People have flocked to social media to praise Irish actress Denise Gough for what has been described as a “brave” and “powerful” interview on Saturday's Tommy Tiernan Show.
During the wide-ranging interview, the Andor star opened up about her struggles with alcohol and drug abuse as well as revealing to host Tommy Tiernan that she was groomed as a young teenager.
Speaking on the show the Wexford native, who wore a T-shirt saying We Should All Be Feminists, told Tiernan that while things were “quite dark” for her during one point in her life but she knew that acting could be her salvation.

"I've been clean and sober for 16 years, but it helped me in that time. That girl needed all the medicine she could get,” she told Tiernan.
"Be careful how you speak to children because that becomes their inner voice. My inner voice was really dark and negative, so that's where the alcohol and drugs came in and helped with that.
“Things got quite dark for me when I was young, and so by the time I was 15 I had run away from home and at 16 I was in London,” the actress added, opening up about her early life.
“I was homeless for a little bit, it was a lot that happened, and acting, the theatre specifically, I knew I could do this thing.
“So in the dark when it seemed like to the outside world ‘she was a mess’, I was a kid but I was a mess, I would always think I am really good at this thing if I could just do that thing. It kept me alive in a way, it kept me with something to go towards you know?”
Viewers praised Denise for being brave and opening up during the interview, with many taking to social media to label the actress a “treasure”.
