Video shows man tackled to the ground by police as King Charles car passes

A male has been captured on video hopping a barrier shortly before King Charles’ car had passed.

A number of police officers were seen tackling the unknown man to the ground as the procession approached.

The video shows six MET police officers running towards the male by one of the barriers that have been laid out on the streets of London.

Loud cheers could be heard coming from the crowd when he was brought down by officers and handcuffs slapped on his wrists, the Mirror reports.

A brief search was carried out on the man before he was taken away by officers and placed in a police van - onlookers captured pictures of the incident as it happened.

In the same footage, the King could be seen inside his Rolls Royce waving to the cheering masses as he was transported to Buckingham Palace following his accession ceremony at St James Palace.

Charles was proclaimed as the new monarch at the Accession Council shortly after 10:00am this morning where he made a heartfelt tribute to his mother.

As heir apparent, the former Prince of Wales automatically became King after the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday afternoon in Balmoral.

But in keeping with tradition, the Accession Council was called as soon as possible to make the formal proclamation of their successor.
