Video pokes fun at those who say women can't play football

To coincide with the Euros kicking off, cheeky Irish bookie Paddy Power has released a video poking fun at people who insist women can’t play football. The viral

, posted to Paddy Power’s social channels, shows freestyle footballer Harriet Pavlou humiliating one male player in particular, after he suggested women playing football “doesn’t work.”

The video, which already has half million views across social channels, sees freestyler and Soccer Aid star Pavlou show off her stepovers, flicks, Rabonas, finishing and skills to leave the naysayer gasping for air. Paddy Power research found questions were raised as to why the country’s leading clubs have been hosting NFL matches and live music events, instead of Women’s Euros fixtures – 34% said women’s football should be prioritised over ‘other’ events, while a further two in five say clubs should have no issue covering both.

82% say areas such as stadium usage, player wages and broadcast opportunities should all be equal to the men’s game, either right away or at some point in the future. Spokesman Paddy Power said: “Our research suggests there is strong support for women’s football out there, and more respect needs to be shown to the sport from the powers that be.

“The stadium selections for this tournament are pretty questionable, and not just because players have to spend time in Wigan and Milton Keynes.”
