A detective has urged three people who made the "cowardly" choice to flee the scene of a fatal crash in Melbourne's west to hand themselves in.
Detectives said a white Audi sedan failed to give way at an intersection and collided with a gold Honda sedan on Links Street in Sunshine West shortly before 1am on Thursday.
A 69-year-old man who was driving the Honda died at the scene.
A 22-year-old Wyndham Vale woman who remained at the scene to assist was later charged with several offences including dangerous driving causing death, stating a false name and address and drug and weapons possession.
She did not appear when her case was heard before the Sunshine Magistrates' Court on Thursday and her lawyer told the court she was facing significant mental health issues.
Police said three occupants of the Audi seen running from the scene of the crash were yet to be found.
Detective Sergeant Stephen Hill urged those who had fled to hand themselves into their nearest police station.
"The law says you need to stop and you need to help, because you have a real chance of saving someone's life," he said.
Police have asked anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have dash cam footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
