Victoria Beckham 'fuming' over Rio Ferdinand's comments about her eating habits

Victoria Beckham is 'fuming' over Rio Ferdinand's comments about her eating habit s, according to reports.

The former footballer, 44, claimed he'd never seen the mum-of-four, 48, "eat anything" despite dining with the fashion designer and her husband David, 47, over the years.

Now Victoria is said to be annoyed by Rio's comments, particularly as he's "a father to a young girl and has another daughter on the way."

A source said: "Vic was really upset when she saw Rio's comments - she won't tolerate it. She's shocked that a former teammate of David's - who's also a father to a young girl and has another daughter on the way - thinks it's ok to discuss a woman's diet in public.

"Rios' a pro and could have batted the the topic away, but he opened his mouth."

The source added the former Spice Girl has 'had to put up with intense scrutiny over what she eats and how she stays so slim for years', adding "the impact of this [Rio's comments] has been traumatic", reports Heat magazine.

Rio made the comments about his former teammate David's wife on Australian radio show Kyle and Jackie O on Thursday.

When host Jackie 'O' Henderson admitted she was 'obsessed' with the fashion icon's diet, the father-of-four said: "I've never seen her eat anything. I don't remember anything that sticks out of my memory, to be honest."

Rio then quickly clarified Victoria was 'nice' during their meetings, as Jackie's co-host joked: "You can't be asking a player about another soccer player's wife."

During her Spice Girls fame, the former WAG was cruelly dubbed Skeletal Spice due to her small frame.

Victoria later addressed the slur, admitting she was "shrinking" in her autobiography Learning to Fly in 2001.

Opening up about her weight, she wrote: "I was shrinking and the excitement at getting thinner took away the hunger."

One thing that is said to be helping Victoria - who was weighed live on TV after giving birth to Brooklyn - is the recent body positivity movement.

As actresses including Kate Winslet speak out about being 'body-shamed' by men, Victoria is said to have grown in confidence to 'fight back' with the source claiming she's "feeling the anger".

Last year, the designer was forced to clarify a few claims about her diet, thanks to husband David revealing she has eaten the same meal every day for 25 years.

"I get quite emotional about food and wine. When I'm eating something great I want everyone to try it," the former England captain explained on the River Cafe Table 4 podcast in January 2021.

"Unfortunately, I'm married to someone who has eaten the same thing for the last 25 years. Since I've met Victoria, she only eats grilled fish, steamed vegetables. She'll very rarely deviate away from there."

"I mean, talk about making me sound boring!" Victoria told Vogue in July, with the publication noting she rolled her eyes when discussing David's claim during their interview.

The Mirror has contacted reps for Victoria and Rio.
