Victor Wembanyama's security guard 'won't face charges' after Britney Spears 'slap'

There will reportedly be no charges filed against the security guard who slapped Britney Spears in Las Vegas.

According to a statement by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department an investigation into the claims have came to a close and there will be "no charges will be filed".

It comes after Britney was allegedly slapped by a member of the NBA star's security team on Wednesday night. The incident is said to have occurred at celebrity hotspot Catch inside the Aria Hotel in Las Vegas.

The Toxic singer, 41, had allegedly "tapped him on his back, right shoulder", and the security then allegedly “backhanded her".

Britney is said to have fallen back and had her glasses knocked off in the altercation.

A statement by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to the Sun read: "The LVMPD has concluded its investigation of the alleged battery that occurred on July 5, 2023, at 11 p.m., in the 3700 block of Las Vegas Boulevard. No charges will be filed against the person involved."

On Thursday, Britney took to social media to condemn the incident. It came after Victor, 19, seemingly played it down when he too was questioned about the goings on.

Taking to Twitter and Instagram, the pop princess wrote: "Traumatic experiences are not new to me and I have had my fair share of them. I was not prepared for what happened to me last night.

"I recognized an athlete in my hotel lobby as I was heading to dinner. I later went to a restaurant at a different hotel and saw him again. I decided to approach him and congratulate him on his success. It was really loud, so I tapped him on the should to get his attention."

She explained she was "aware" Victor had claimed she grabbed him, but she reiterated this was not the case. Britney said his team "back handed me in the face without looking back" explaining how the blow almost knocked her over.

Britney then said her security has to deal with fans all the time who swarm her and they don't lash out. Her husband Sam Asghari shared a similar message on his own social media page.

The pair have continued to share a number of messages on the platforms, with both clearly far from happy with what has happened.

Sam said shortly after the incident: ""I am opposed to violence in any form, especially without justification in the defense of yourself or someone else who is unable to defend themselves. Self-defense can be unavoidable, but the defense of any woman, especially my wife, is not debatable.

"I consider my reaction subdued considering what occurred, and I hope the man in question learns a lesson and changes his disregard for women. Thank you for the support."

He later shared a video of Britney surrounded by fans and told his followers this was the correct way for a celebrity to act.
