Victor Osimhen's Premier League ambition revealed amid Manchester United links

Everton star Alex Iwobi has suggested that Nigeria teammate Victor Osimhen “probably has the ambition” to play in the Premier League.

The Napoli striker is on Manchester United’s radar with Erik ten Hag circling him as a potential summer pursuit, albeit Manchester Evening News reports the club have Harry Kane as their number one target. Osimhen has netted 21 Serie A goals this season and is reportedly also of interest to Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

The 24-year-old is set to lift the league title this year with Napoli 19 points clear at the summit while his club is also in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. However, it is thought that the forward will leave Italy this summer, probably for a fee over £100m.

Iwobi plays alongside Osimhen for Nigeria and says, like the rest of the squad who do not play in England, that the goal-getter has expressed an interest in a Premier League move. Speaking on The Beautiful Game podcast, he said: “He has asked but all of them (other Nigeria squad players) ask.

“All of them ask. I am sure he probably has the ambition to play in the Premier League.” Osimhen backed up this suggestion when speaking about his future earlier this month.

Talking about a move to the Premier League, he said: “I think it is an ambition of all players. And who knows, one day.” He quickly clarified: "Right now, I assure you, it doesn't even cross my mind. It would distract me from a beautiful season. [I'm thinking of] Only Napoli."
