Victor Osimhen message leaves Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool with a decision to make

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, over the last few months.

The Nigeria international has been in fine form for Napoli this season. He’s scored 25 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions, including four in the Champions League, but did not score against Liverpool.

That form has seen Osimhen linked with a move to the Premier League. Manchester United are the club who have been the most frequently credited with an interest in the striker.

Reports in February, though, claimed that Liverpool had joined the race to sign Osimhen. Real Madrid, Arsenal and Chelsea have also been rumoured to be keen on the 24-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window.

Osimhen has even spoken publicly about his desire to eventually play in the Premier League. While not mentioning Liverpool by name, it’s clear that a move to England is something that could happen in the future.

Speaking earlier this month, Osimhen said: "I think playing in one of the top five leagues in the world (Serie A) is an amazing feeling for me.

“A lot of people worldwide consider the Premier League as the best and the strongest league but now I'm in one of the best leagues in the world which is the Italian Serie A.

"I'm working so hard to make sure that I achieve my dream of playing in the Premier League someday but, like I said, it's a process and I just want to keep on this momentum and continue to do well."

Liverpool only signed a striker in the form of Darwin Nunez last summer. The Reds agreed a £64.1m deal with Benfica, with the potential for a further £21.4m in add-ons.

But with Roberto Firmino set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, question marks have been raised over whether the club will look for a replacement. It's thought a replacement for the Brazilian won't be considered a priority for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool's recruitment team this summer.

But if the idea to move for a new forward enters their thoughts, would Osimhen be in their thoughts? His form this season is likely to make him one of the most sought after players this summer across Europe.

With Liverpool likely to prioritise signing midfielders this summer, other clubs may look to sign Osimhen instead. But the Reds would be wise to have the Napoli striker in their thoughts if the possibility of signing a new forward becomes a possibility.
