Victor Orta makes first public appearance since Leeds United exit

Leeds United's former director of football Victor Orta has made his first public appearance since his departure from Elland Road. Orta, who left the club by mutual consent earlier this week, was among the attendees at Headingley Stadium for Leeds Rhinos' Super League clash with Salford Red Devils.

The Spaniard left his position after a strong fan backlash, with the decision to part ways with Javi Garcia proving to be the final straw for Orta during a six-year spell at Elland Road.

But he was spotted in the stands at Headingley ahead of the Rhinos' game against the Reds, less than 24 hours before the Whites continue their battle against relegation as they take on Premier League leaders, Manchester City.

It will be the first game since Orta's departure as well as Sam Allardyce's maiden game in charge. However, he appeared relaxed as he took in the action in what were unfamiliar surroundings for the former Middlesborough and Sevilla man.

It's unclear what link, if any, Orta has to the Rhinos, other than the city connection that ties both clubs. Leeds Rhinos players are regulars at Elland Road and frequently show their support for the club.

Rohan Smith's Rhinos reached last year's Super League Grand Final but have endured a frustrating season, winning five of their opening ten games of the season.

As for Orta, his long-term future remains unclear after departing his role at the club. He arrived in 2017 and played an important role behind the scenes as the Whites made their return to the Premier League. However, he ultimately took the blame for Garcia's failed appointment, with his departure coinciding with his exit.
