A woman abused by paedophile lawyer John Watt when she was a young girl has bravely shared her victim impact statement after he was sentenced to ten years for sex crimes against four children yesterday. Last night, the woman who sparked the probe into Watt and other senior legal figures in Edinburgh said justice had finally been done - and she hoped he died in prison.
Susie Henderson, 55, who has waived her right to anonymity to share her story, was raped by Watt when she was aged between seven and 12. When told about the sentence yesterday, Susie, said: “It’s better than I expected, and I hope he never has another day of freedom in his life.
“He got away with it for half a century, but he left us serving a life-sentence and that doesn’t change.” Susie is the daughter of the late QC, Robert Henderson, who died in 2012.
