Met Police detectives have named the victim of a fatal stabbing in Plaistow as 20-year-old Elliott Francique.
The force said Mr Francique was found stabbed to death in a “brutal and targeted” attack inside his bedroom at a property on Hudson Close at 3.21pm on Tuesday.
Despite the efforts of medics, he was pronounced dead at the scene just after 4.30pm.
His next of kin are aware and continue to be supported by specialist officers.
The suspect forced his way into the victim’s home before repeatedly stabbing him and fleeing on foot towards Park Grove, police said earlier this week.
From there, the attacker went towards Chad Green.
The suspect was a black male dressed in all black clothing, according to police.
Met detectives on Wednesday launched a murder investigation as they appealed for anyone living in the Newham area with information to come forward. No arrests have been made.
Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen said: “Our enquiries to establish the identity of the suspect and the motivation behind this frenzied attack continue today.
“Our enquiries include door to door enquiries in the area and the examination of hours of CCTV footage from a number of surrounding locations.
“I am grateful to those people who have already come forward to speak with us and urge anyone with information who hasn’t yet been in touch to call us without delay.
“Even the smallest piece of information could corroborate something we have already been told, or might be the missing part of the timeline of events that we are building.”
