The victim of an alleged acid attack in Sydney's CBD has shared her ordeal online in a series of social media videos, as NSW Police appeal for witnesses.
Jenny Elhassan, 32, was standing on Dixon Street in Haymarket when a "corrosive substance" was thrown at her.
Police say she had been approached by three masked men driving a black SUV.
The incident, which police believe was targeted, took place just after 11pm on Friday outside the Old Town Hong Kong Cuisine restaurant.
A series of videos posted on the social media platform TikTok by Ms Elhassan captured the moments surrounding the event.
In one just after the attack, she can be seen inside the restaurant seeking assistance and screaming, "water", "I can't see" and "I need mouth-to-mouth", before being handed a bottle of water by a staff member.
In another, she explains how the incident unfolded, saying her glasses saved her.
"I had my glasses on, imagine I didn't have my glasses on.
"So, I was walking out of the restaurant and a guy in a black-hooded shirt, he had a mask on … threw black acid on my face".
HAZMAT crews secured the scene, but police said they still didn't know what substance was used.
Detective Acting Inspector Sean West called the attack "completely unacceptable".
"We don't know exactly what the acid is at this stage, other than it is acidic," he said.
"Some of our police also had some minor injuries, which, luckily for them, [needed] no more than some first-aid treatment."
Ms Elhassan was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital, where she was treated for burns and lacerations to her face.
Videos taken while in hospital showed the extent of her injuries.
"See the burn marks on my neck? See the burn marks across my head and my eyesight?" Ms Elhassan says.
In another, she tells a male the "only thing that's hurting me is my eye".
"I thought I lost my eyesight when it first happened," she says.
"I was screaming, I thought I lost my eyesight because I couldn't see."
Police are yet to establish a motive for the attack and are calling for dashcam footage, and for anyone who saw the incident or was in the area to come forward.
They particularly want help with locating the vehicle, a black Mazda SUV CX5 or CX7, spotted in the vicinity of the crime.
"It's heinous as an attack. Obviously the investigation is in its early stages and we are looking for a precise motive," Detective Acting Inspector West said.
"We are aware of certain social media video that is currently being circulated and that is one of many lines of inquiry.
"We're in the process of getting our hands on all that."
Ms Elhassan is recovering at home after being discharged from hospital.
