Vice President Kamala Harris has recently embarked on her first trip to a battleground state, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, following her assumption of the Democratic presidential nomination to challenge former President Donald Trump.
The rally held by Harris in Milwaukee marks the beginning of a new phase in the 2024 race. During a visit to campaign headquarters on Monday, she showcased a more energetic style and drew sharp contrasts with the former president, a departure from President Joe Biden's recent approach.
This visit to Milwaukee concludes a historic two-day period that significantly altered the course of the race. Within less than 36 hours of Biden's announcement of dropping out and endorsing Harris, she managed to secure enough commitments from Democratic National Convention delegates to effectively secure the nomination.
Moreover, Harris successfully raised over $100 million from 1.1 million donors, with 62% being first-time contributors, between Sunday and Monday. This substantial amount underscores the revitalized enthusiasm within the previously subdued Democratic base.
Wisconsin, one of the crucial 'Blue Wall' states along with Pennsylvania and Michigan, has been a focal point for Harris. This visit marks her fifth trip to Wisconsin this year and the ninth since assuming the role of vice president.
