On Sunday night, Vice President Kamala Harris reached out to Rev. Al Sharpton following the most significant phone call of her political career. Sharpton revealed that Harris seemed surprised by recent events, stating, 'I had no idea it was going to happen.' Despite the unexpected turn of events, Harris expressed her determination to fully commit to her presidential campaign, affirming to Sharpton, 'I’m going to go all in.'
This conversation marked a stark contrast from their previous discussion at the Essence festival, where Harris had urged Sharpton to support President Joe Biden amid mounting pressure for him to withdraw from the 2024 race. Sharpton recalled her plea to 'stay with Joe' during their earlier interaction.
