Vice President Kamala Harris and her yet-to-be-named running mate are set to begin a series of campaign events in battleground states next week, starting with a rally in Philadelphia on Tuesday, August 6. The choice of Pennsylvania as the launch location has sparked interest, especially with Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro being considered as one of the top contenders for Harris' vice-presidential pick.
Following the event in Pennsylvania, Harris and her running mate will continue their campaign trail in western Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada. In addition to Shapiro, other potential candidates being vetted by Harris include Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly and Tim Walz, the governor of Minnesota.
On August 7, Harris and her running mate are scheduled to visit Detroit as part of their campaign tour. Despite speculation, Harris confirmed that she has not yet made a final decision on her running mate while boarding Air Force Two for a campaign rally in Atlanta.
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear are also being considered as potential running mates, although sources close to the selection process have indicated that they are not currently in the top tier of contenders.
