During a recent conversation between Vice President Kamala Harris and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Harris expressed her desire to earn Democratic support rather than expecting a coronation, according to a source familiar with the call. This sentiment was reiterated by Harris in subsequent calls with House Democrats.
While Jeffries commended Harris during a news conference on Monday, he refrained from offering his endorsement. The source mentioned that Jeffries is taking his time to assess the situation and wants to ensure that President Joe Biden's track record receives the attention it deserves before making any decisions.
