Vice President Kamala Harris visited Charlotte on Saturday to meet with members of the North Carolina Air National Guard who have been actively involved in providing assistance in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Expressing her gratitude, Harris commended the Guard for their dedicated efforts, referring to their work as 'God's work on the ground.'

During her visit, Harris highlighted the collaborative efforts of federal, state, and local officials in delivering relief and support to those most affected by the storm. She acknowledged the sacrifices made by National Guard members, noting that some had been directly impacted by the disaster themselves.

In addition to meeting with Guard members, Harris also spent time with families who had been displaced by the hurricane. One family, including a 6-month-old child, had to temporarily relocate to Charlotte from western North Carolina until it is safe to return home.
