Vice President Kamala Harris recently announced the launch of a new outreach effort focused on mobilizing Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) voters, communities, and leaders nationwide. This initiative aims to engage and empower these communities in the political process.
To inaugurate this campaign, Harris is scheduled to headline an event in Las Vegas alongside television host, writer, and executive producer Padma Lakshmi. As the first Black and South Asian American vice president, Harris is expected to emphasize the significance of the upcoming election and highlight the Biden administration's initiatives benefiting AANHPI communities.
In a newly released video, Harris stresses the importance of ensuring that AANHPI voices are heard at the ballot box in the upcoming November elections. She underlines the shared values of hard work, community, and the responsibility to care for others, advocating for increased representation of AANHPI individuals in government at all levels.
Following the launch of this outreach effort, Sen. Tammy Duckworth, co-chair of the Biden-Harris 2024 campaign, expressed support for the administration's inclusive approach towards AANHPI communities. Duckworth emphasized that the Biden-Harris administration recognizes AANHPI individuals as integral members of society, dispelling the notion of them being 'others.' She affirmed her commitment to rallying behind Joe Biden as the candidate who truly belongs in the White House come November.
