Veteran sports broadcaster diagnosed with cancer for fifth time

  • Veteran ESPN broadcaster Dick Vitale has revealed he is facing his fifth battle with cancer after biopsy results confirmed melanoma in his lung and liver cavity.
  • The 86-year-old, affectionately known as "Dickie V", is scheduled to begin immunotherapy to combat this latest health challenge.
  • Vitale expressed unwavering confidence, stating he has previously overcome melanoma, lymphoma, vocal-cord cancer, and lymph-node cancer.
  • Despite his recurring health issues, which led to a two-year absence from the airwaves, he continues his nearly five-decade career with ESPN.
  • He remains committed to his long-running efforts to raise money for paediatric cancer research, hoping to raise $12 million at his 21st annual gala next month.
