Veteran broadcaster Jon Snow reveals Alzheimer’s diagnosis ahead of Channel 4 documentary on condition

  • Veteran Channel 4 News broadcaster Jon Snow has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease , the most prevalent form of dementia, a diagnosis confirmed by the Alzheimer’s Society.
  • The 78-year-old journalist is set to explore his experiences of living with the condition in an upcoming documentary, “Jon Snow: A Last Big Story”, which is scheduled to be broadcast on Channel 4 at 8pm on 20 June.
  • Snow disclosed that he has been living with the disease since 2023, admitting he was initially reluctant to seek medical advice and sometimes questions the diagnosis, stating he does not feel disabled.
  • He is currently involved in a clinical trial for the condition, and has previously spoken about his mother, Joan, who also battled Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Michelle Dyson, chief executive of the Alzheimer’s Society, praised Snow’s courage in going public, hoping his story will spark a national conversation about dementia and highlight the urgent need for faster and fairer access to diagnosis.
