Barbara McKay is not afraid of experiencing the full breadth of human emotion.
The 82-year-old artist has known the grief of losing her adult son and husband, to the joy of having her work recognised by one of the art world's biggest heavyweights.
"I have painted through all life's experiences: happiness, joy, discovery, grief, you name it, and I think that has been my absolute saving grace, you know, I just paint," McKay says.
