Turkish billionaire Muhsin Bayrak is said to be 'very upset' after a bizarre error led to him missing the deadline to submit a bid for Chelsea, with Roman Abramovich looking to sell the European Champions.
Abramovich confirmed he was putting the club up for sale before he was sanctioned by the UK government. While the sanctions limit money that can go into the club through means such as ticket sales, it does not mean a takeover cannot be completed.
It now has to be overseen by the government and interested parties were told to get their final offers in by 9pm on Friday, March 18. Most managed this task but Bayrak did not, despite previously claiming he had a 90% chance of being successful in his venture.

Speaking to Oda TV at the start of March, he said: “We have reached a certain stage. Our law and finance department will start talks with theirs in London on Thursday. That’s the way it is at this point. On Thursday, we will notify the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).
"People are talking about it, we made some progress in the talks, and the world believes we have a 90% chance of completing the deal. Abramovich thinks the same."
But this week, Bayrak admitted that he had missed the deadline and was 'very upset', blaming the failure to submit a bid on his company AB Group Holding in an interview with Reuters.
Reuters also report that AB Group's lawyers "contacted the UK Department for Digital, Culture Media & Sport using a generic email address to file an enquiry, rather than to file a bid to the U.S. investment bank."
