After showing off her acting prowess in a short film titled, ‘Smartphone’, Veronica Vanij is all set to impress her audience with her interesting line-up of films and shows. In an exclusive interview with ETimes, the actress spilled the beans on her projects, working with Shreyas Talpade, social media trolls and more. Excerpts…
OTT has been a gamechanger for many in the industry. What are your thoughts on it as an actor?
OTT has given much-needed recognition to new talent. It has also diversified the content. Actors have benefited the most from OTT platforms. I think it’s a great platform.
After ‘Smartphone’, you will now be seen in ‘Jo Hukum Mere Aaka’. Tell us something about the show. How did you come on board for it?
‘Jo Hukum Mere Aaka’ is a comedy, episodic web show directed by Rajiv Ruia. It was a great experience working with actors like Shreyas Talpade and Krushna Abhishek. I learnt a lot from them. It was a really quick selection. The director had asked me to send him a self-test audition from home and I got selected.
What was your first impression of Shreyas Talpade? How is he as a co-star?
Shreyas sir is really a supportive co-star. He is very down to earth. We used to have interesting conversations about films and different roles during the shoot. I recently got an award from his hands and it really feels great.
You are also a part of the film ‘Dreamy Singh’. What is the film about?
I feel lucky to be part of ‘Dreamy Singh’. This is my first feature film. I started shooting for it on my birthday i.e. the first day of the year. It was a great start to a new year and I’m already excited about it.
How was it working with Ashmit Patel?
Ashmit is a very friendly and supportive co-actor. He helped me to prepare for my scenes on the set many times. It was fun shooting with him. Apart from this, we also discussed a lot about fitness and healthy lifestyle.
Name one actor who you would love to work with and why?
I would love to work with Akshay Kumar anytime. I find him very positive and hard working. I really love all his films.
From amongst the new crop of actors who according to you has the most potential?
From amongst the new generation, I feel Kartik Aryan has a lot of potential. I really admire and appreciate his choice of films.
You are quite active on social media. How do you deal with the negativity and trolls?
The only way I deal with them is by focusing on the good part and never taking the negativity to my head.
