Father-of-two Matthew Farmer has been convicted of the brutal murder of his ex-partner after a jury retired to consider its verdict for 30 minutes.
The panel returned quickly with their decision at Nottingham Crown Court this morning (Thursday, January 20).
Farmer showed no visible emotion as the guilty verdict was delivered.
He had denied the murder of his partner of 15 years, Stacey Clay, after it was alleged he launched a manic and prolonged knife attack and then tried to strangle her in the back garden of her Bestwood home.
He took her by surprise after hiding behind a barbecue at the home they once shared in Andover Road.
He bought the knife he used just hours earlier from Tesco Express, Bulwell, where he worked as a security guard.
Miss Clay, 39, a mother-of-four, could be heard screaming on CCTV played in court which filmed the terrible incident as Farmer repeatedly stabbed her 21 times.
He was tasered by police as he was in the process of strangling her on the grass.
Farmer, 42, of Logan Street, Bulwell, now faces a life sentence for murder and the judge will decide the minimum tariff before he can apply for parole.
He will be sentenced tomorrow (Friday, January 20).
