Vera star Riley Jones has addressed the news that his co-star Kenny Doughty has decided to leave the ITV show.
Kenny, 47, joined the crime drama in the role of DS Aiden Healy in 2014 and has since starred alongside the likes of Brenda Blethyn, 77, and Riley, 34, on the beloved TV series.
He however announced earlier this week that he's made the "difficult decision" to leave the show, with him having confirmed his departure in a post on Instagram.
Among those who have addressed the news is former colleague Riley - who's played DC Mark Edwards since the show began in 2011 - who took to the comments section.
He wrote: "Where to even start. It's been an absolute pleasure working alongside you for all these years. After 35 films your energy, enthusiasm and sense of fun on set never wavered.
"You're a true professional and have not only made me a better actor but a better person. Here's to your next chapter. Can't wait to see what you do next. Whatever it is I'm sure it'll be awesome!"
Kenny responded to his former co-star's comment, writing in a reply to Riley: "Thanks mate. Here's to new adventures buddy. And I'm so thankful for your friendship".
Kenny announced his departure from Vera just days ago, with him having issued a statement on Instagram about it alongside a series of photos from his time on the ITV show.
He wrote in his post earlier this week: "After 8 years & 35 Vera films I've made the difficult decision of handing over DS Healy's badge. I can confirm I am leaving Vera.
"I want to thank everyone who’s made this amazing time so joyous, ITV, Silverprint, all the brilliant cast and crew BUT of course my buddy & inspiration Brenda Blethyn.
"The perfect leading star who I owe so much to. I feel lucky to have you as a friend, you make me howl with laughter & have been a rock for me over the years. I can't thank you enough. Precious times."
And in a message to fans, he wrote: "Without you and your support I would never have made so many films. You really are the best fans in the world. Thank you so much for your loyalty & love for the show."
