Brenda Blethyn has offered assurances to a Vera fan who was very keen to know when the show will be back, as other viewers continue to seek answers as to why the last two episodes of the most recent series still haven't been on.
Brenda has been spending a lot of time in the North East so far, as she and co-stars like Kenny Doughty and Riley Jones film scenes for the next series of the hit ITV drama, which has now been a screen for over a decade. They've been spotted on set in the likes of Wallsend, Darlington and Morpeth over the last few months, before Brenda joined Ann Cleeves, the author responsible for bringing DCI Stanhope to life, at a special sold out Viva Viva event at Playhouse Whitley Bay in early September.
Brenda has posted about filming the new series on numerous occasions on her social media channels but one fan clearly hadn't spotted any series as they tagged Brenda, Kenny and Riley in a tweet which read: "Is there going to be another season of Vera? I need to know." The lead actress was quick to respond, with her answer revealing that Vera had reached the landmark of 50 episodes.
The BAFTA winner's response read: "Yes Danielle. Series 12 . Wrapped on episode 50 of VERA last week," with many followers commenting underneath to share their excitement at the Vera action to come. However, there is still the small matter of what has happened to the remaining episodes of series 11.
The most recent run of Vera kicked off at the end of August 2021, with its first episodes pulling in millions of viewers. However, the pause button was then hit on series 11 due to the fact that production on the last few episodes had been delayed due to the Covid pandemic. Episodes three and four eventually aired at the start of this year but, just as fans were loving having Vera back on Sunday nights, it was pulled from schedules again, with no explanation.
ITV have yet to provide any concrete answers on when the last two parts of series 11 will be on screen but, now that series 12 filming is wrapped, fans are now growing more impatient for their Vera fix, particularly after it was discovered that viewers in America have been able to watch them on BritBox in the States.
