In late September, a Texas woman fell victim to a terrifying ordeal in her Dallas home, where she was tied up, robbed at gunpoint, and pistol-whipped. The incident took place in the upscale Bluffview neighborhood, known for its high property values.
According to police records, the suspects, believed to be Venezuelan men, targeted the woman as she arrived home from dinner. They forced her into the house, threatened her with guns, and physically assaulted her, causing injuries.
Reportedly, the men used Google Translate to communicate with the victim during the robbery. They made off with a significant amount of valuables, including jewelry, designer handbags, the victim's phone, and other items.
Authorities took swift action in apprehending the perpetrators. Manuel Hernandez-Hernandez, a 28-year-old Venezuelan national, was the first to be arrested and charged with aggravated robbery. Subsequently, three other male suspects, Yean Brayhan Torrealba-Sanabria, Carlos Alberto Martinez-Silva, and Wilmer Jesus Colmenares-Gonzalez, were also arrested in connection with the crime.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that all four suspects are living in the United States illegally from Venezuela. Hernandez-Hernandez, in particular, had a prior record, having entered the country unlawfully and faced previous legal issues.
Police linked Hernandez-Hernandez to the robbery through fingerprint evidence found at the crime scene. He cooperated with authorities, providing information about the other suspects involved, whom he claimed to know only by their nicknames.
Allegations surfaced that the men may have ties to a criminal street gang known as El Anti-Tren. Hernandez-Hernandez mentioned a Facebook interaction with one of the suspects before the robbery, suggesting premeditation.
The arrests were made possible through a collaborative effort involving Dallas police, Irving Police SWAT, and ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of swift and effective law enforcement in ensuring the safety and security of communities.
