Vehicles to be stopped by police for tyres and brakes 'safety and legal' checks in North East

Vehicles in the North East are to be stopped by police officers to ensure tyres are safe and legal.

Offices from Northumbria Police and Durham Constabulary will be stopping cars this week to promote the importance of keeping up to date with regular vehicle checks, including ensuring tyres are safe and legal, and that brakes, lights and water are all operating in good working order.

Drivers of heavy goods vehicles (HGV) are also being asked to ensure their loads are secure and any freight correctly stored.
