A vegan caterer has been slammed for having a hot dog on its menu called ‘Anne Frankfurter'.
The Viva Veggie Van was flogging the controversial plant-based snack for £7.
It is a bizarre play on words named after Jewish schoolgirl Anne Frank who died in a Nazi concentration camp.
The hot dog was set to be served with raw onions, mustard and relish.
But the caterer has been slammed over the inappropriate name.
Viva Veggie Van has now been booted out of the Birmingham Brewery Company taproom food show as a result.
In a statement, the brewers distanced themselves from the veggie chefs.
It read: "A menu was shared last night by a third party vendor who was booked to trade at our brewery tap room this weekend.
"We did not have sight of the menu before it was published and agree that the name of one of the dishes is totally inappropriate.
"The trader will not be trading with us."
Foodies have slammed the Anne Frankfurter snack with one person calling it "bad taste on so many levels."
"That's outrageous," Ronan Gibbons said after the menu was revealed.
While local resident Billy added: "Who the f*** in the right mind has published this. No idea what they expected to come if it."
Other items on the menu included an £8 Viva La Cheeseburger with regular or vegan cheese, a vegan brioche bun, lettuce, onion, and tomato.
And the £6 Bikini Shroom cheese toastie would have come with caramelised onion and mushroom.
But it was the hot dog that gained most attention from the three-item menu.
Others came out in defence of the eatery.
"She was born in Frankfurt! It's a reference to where she was born," one person said.
Another joked: "£8 for a burger without any meat in it is the real crime here."
Anne Frank was forced into hiding during World War II before being deported to Auschwitz and then Bergen-Belsen where she was murdered.
Her diary which she kept in the years running up to her capture is deemed one of the most important books in history.
The Viva Veggie Van has been approached for comment.
