A man has been filmed complaining to his neighbours about a BBQ they were having in their garden that was causing his family - who "don't eat animals" - to "vomit". The two and a half minute-long ordeal was uploaded onto TikTok as the frustrated vegan confronted his neighbours about the smell and smoke.
The clip - which you can watch below - begins with the man talking to his neighbours on a patio decking as he explains the issues he has with their BBQ. "The actual burning, cremating of animals," he begins. "Claire and I and the kids are absolutely... we're vomiting."
The neighbour explains they're "only having a BBQ." However, the man hits back, saying he would have appreciated an advanced warning of the gathering. "I know, but I'm not asking much, am I?" He said. "All I want is a little bit of notice.
"So that when you're having your BBQ, I'm not saying you can't have your BBQ, but please let us know before you have the BBQ. You know we're vegan. We don't like this kind of thing, we don't like the smell, the smoke."
He continues: "The burning of the fossil fuels, we don't like it - we're trying to save the planet. I expect a little bit more from you, the younger generation."
He later fumes: "The smell is disgusting, it's vile. The actual burning and cremating of animals, our friends. We're humans but we're all part of the same eco system.
"We're all animals together. I cannot believe that in this day and age, with the technology that we've got these days, that we're still eating animals."
He goes on to clarify that he is "only asking you let us know in future" when the neighbours plan on having a BBQ so he and his family can "vacate" their home, and bring in any clothes out that were hanging out to dry, so his children don't go to school "smelling of smoke."
The neighbour swiftly urges him to leave, telling him to "go before something else happens". The vegan replies by telling them: "I want to know that next time you have a BBQ, that you're going to let us know. You do this again and I'm telling you now, I'll call the police."
The video ends with the neighbours seeing the frustrated dad off as they discuss what had just happened with each other. The clip has now been watched more than 256,000 times, with thousands commenting on the confrontation.
Alungray2 commented: "Please tell me this is a skit." Chris O'Regan said: "His request for notice was reasonable. His anti meat eating rant was not." Seagreen33 joked: "BBQ 365 days of the year from now on."
Frazermfc typed: "It actually standard manners to let your neighbour know, especially if they have clothing on the line." Tristramcynanjones echoed: "I'd let my neighbours know if they had washing out tbf."
