Variety's Power Of Women New York Event Honors Influential Women.

Brazilian superstar Anitta, 'Law & Order: SVU' star Mariska Hargitay, showrunner and author Shonda Rhimes, and comedian Amy Schumer have been selected as the honorees for Variety's annual Power of Women New York event, scheduled for May 2. The event, presented in partnership with Lifetime, aims to celebrate the charitable work of these influential women in the entertainment industry.

The Power of Women New York honorees will be featured on four separate covers for the April 30 print edition of Variety. The issue will also include the Women's Impact Report, highlighting accomplished women in media and entertainment.

The event will be hosted by Amber Ruffin, known for her work on Peacock's 'The Amber Ruffin Show' and NBC's 'Late Night with Seth Meyers.' Michelle Sobrino-Stearns, CEO and Group Publisher of Variety, expressed gratitude to Lifetime for their continuous support of the Power of Women series of events.

Anitta, who is gearing up for the release of her new album 'Funk Generation' on April 26, will bring attention to CUFA (Central Única das Favelas), an organization promoting social action in favelas and peripheral territories through various projects.

Mariska Hargitay, marking 25 years of 'Law & Order: SVU,' will support the Joyful Heart Foundation's mission to transform responses to sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse.

Shonda Rhimes will highlight the work of the Debbie Allen Dance Academy, focusing on enriching the lives of students from disenfranchised Black and Latino communities through dance and theater training.

Amy Schumer, known for her work in comedy and advocacy, will voice her support for Everytown for Gun Safety, joining the fight against gun violence alongside 10 million committed members.

Elaine Frontain Bryant, Executive VP and Head of Programming at A&E, Lifetime & LMN, commended the Power of Women honorees for their dedication to empowering others and driving positive change.

Exclusive gift bags featuring entertainment, beauty, health, and fashion products from companies like Ouai, Supergoop, Davines, Elemis, and Bombas will be given to honorees and guests at the event.
