All 42 SPFL clubs will get their say on VAR in the Scottish Premiership later this month.
The video refereeing system has been in place in the English Premier League since the 2019-20 campaign and in recent years numerous Scottish clubs including Rangers, Hearts and Aberdeen have all come out in favour.
Calls to introduce it in Scotland have been previously rebuffed with costs the main sticking point but there finally appears to be progress and a trial match took place in a youth match at Oriam on Sunday.
The SPFL have confirmed that a vote on VAR will now take place on introducing VAR to the Scottish Premiership on April 19.
All 42 member clubs will be able to have their say with the resolution requiring 75 per cent of Premiership clubs, 75 per cent of Championship clubs and 75 per cent of clubs in Leagues 1 and 2 combined to vote in favour.
If the resolution is passed the system is planned to be in place following the conclusion of the World Cup.
That means that VAR could be in place in the Scottish top flight from December 18.
