It’s the biggest night in Hollywood’s calendar, which calls for not one, but two red carpet looks from the acting elite.
While the main Oscars ceremony is know for looks which exude old Hollywood glamour, the Vanity Fair afterparty is a more playful affair. The stars change out of their ball gowns into party-ready outfits for the coveted event held annually at Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills.
Sheer was once again the reigning red carpet trend, with an array of A-listers opting for revealing fabrics. Most notably Florence Pugh (who has proven she has a penchant for naked dressing in the past, having broken the internet with a sheer Valentino frock last year), chose a cream embroidered confection which she accessorised with a sparkling Bulgari necklace and Christian Louboutin shoes. Kendall Jenner also checked the trend, stunning in a black sheer dress from the most recent Margiela couture show.
The Vanity Fair red carpet also welcomed a host of archival pieces. Take Barbie star Margot Robbie, who ditched the method dressing she’s become known for after the movie’s debut, swapping pink for a stunning champagne-coloured Mugler spring/summer 1996 bodice. Taking cues from the no-trousers trend, Robbie left her legs bare, save a for a pair of strappy heels. While Jennifer Lawrence dipped into the Givenchy archive for her ethereal all-over four-leaf clover patterned dress, which was taken from John Galliano’s sophomore couture collection for the brand.
The best dressed stars at the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party 2024
Unsurprisingly the newly appointed Balenciaga ambassador Kim Kardashian donned a sleek sculptural cream custom gown from the Spanish label’s pre-fall 2024 show (where it was first shown in black). Accessorised with a pair of oversized sunglasses, the Skims founder looked every inch the Hollywood star — apt seeing as she recently starred in American Horror Story and has just sold the rights to her upcoming thriller film (which she also stars in) to Amazon.
Pamela Anderson continues on her no-make up streak, rocking up at the Vanity Fair after party looking beautifully fresh faced in a floral Oscar de la Renta dress.
Also wearing sunglasses inside (and at night, we might add) was K-pop star, Rosé who wore a toffee-hued, form-fitting Saint Laurent dress.
Jennifer Lawrence swapped her polka-dot dress for a sheer piece from one of Givenchy’s most acclaimed couture shows from 1996.
Greta Lee has fast become a best dressed list front runner — and for good reason. This time the Past Lives star crushed it with a slinky sage Loewe halter gown with a sexy gold chain draped around her waist.
Following in Hunter Schafer and Anya Taylor Joy’s footsteps, Kendall Jenner is the next celeb to pull from the fashion history-making Margiela couture show earlier this year.
With office siren and business chic in vogue, YouTube sensation Emma Chamberlain picked an on-trend office-ready couture gown from Thom Browne.
Necklines had a big evening — and we have Balenciaga to thank for that. Oscar winning actor Michelle Yeoh wore a timeless dress with an exaggerated, shoulder framing neckline, which she showed off by tying her hair into a sleek, low bun.
Sydney Sweeney looked every inch the Hollywood starlet in vintage Marc Bouwer.
The Anatomy of a Fall lead Sandra Hüller continued her streak of wearing sculptural necklines, this time in a gown by Schiaparelli.
Dazed cover star Vittoria Ceretti chose a straight-off-the-runway Alaïa gown.
Donald Glover shows the boys how it’s done looking suave in a red Amiri suit and dusty pink shirt.
