TV and radio host Vanessa Feltz has revealed her daughter has been 'deadly ill' in hospital on a drip after contracting flu. Vanessa says her elder daughter, aged 36, has been 'desperately ill' since Wednesday last week.
Vanessa's daughter Allegra Benitah, is a former tax lawyer who is now a television baker and chef.
Speaking to Phil and Holly on This Morning, Vanessa said: "She's been on a drip since Thursday night." She added: "She's 36, she's slim, she's fit, she's got two young children."
Vanessa, encouraged everyone to get a flu jab if they are eligible, although she said both her and her daughter have had their. Explaining her daughter's illness Vanessa said: "She started being incredibly ill - vomiting and vomiting and vomiting. We thought it was norovirus, we thought it was the kind of thing that you just deal with at home.
"She got sicker and sicker and iller and iller, and in the end was admitted as an emergency. She's still in hospital. She's still on a drip, we think she's finally turning a corner this morning."
Vanessa revealed she and her daughter had the vaccine together. Vanessa said when she told the consulted her daughter had had the jab he replied: "Imagine if she hadn't"
She said: "The vaccine may not prevent you from getting the flu, but it will save your life."
She said the consultant told her that flu 'when you get it very badly' is worse than Covid. Vanessa said: "He said you feel as if you're going to die, and in some cases you do."
Talking again of her daughter, Vanessa said: "She has been deadly ill. Yesterday when I went to visit her in hospital shd literally could not even open her eyes and she could not talk she was so ill."
