Vanessa Feltz decided to embrace her first birthday as a single woman following her heart-breaking split from ex-fiancé Ben Ofoedu after 16 years together.
The broadcaster, who turned 61 on Tuesday, wrote in her Express column that she was “battered and bruised” after learning that the Phats & Small singer, 50, had been unfaithful, which resulted in her deciding to end the relationship.
Saying she is “born and bred to be married,” Feltz was optimistic about the future, adding: “I am curious about who and what the future will bring.”
She also took the time to acknowledge what a difference 12 months can make as aside from the end of her romance, she started a new job at TalkTalk after 33 years at the BBC.
The London-born star also “embarked on Instagram” and became a grandmother for the fourth time when granddaughter Cecily Violet was born in September to her daughter Saskia.
Continuing as she means to go on, Feltz took to Instagram to give an insight into her celebrations, including posing with helium balloons.
“I am the birthday girl!” she wrote alongside the clips.
She also showed off a beautiful bracelet featuring four hearts to represent each of her grandchildren with their names engraved.
