Vanessa Feltz awkwardly reacts to Phillip Schofield news live on air

Vanessa Feltz was live on air when she heard the latest development of the Phillip Schofield scandal. The former This Morning presenter seemed to be put on the spot in an awkward discussion about her ex-colleague, Manchester Evening News reports.

She was hosting her evening TalkTV show when the news broke that her former colleague Phillip, 61, had admitted to having an affair with a "younger" ITV employee. The affair was when the presenter was still married to wife Stephanie Lowe, reports MirrorOnline.

Schofield stepped down from his role on This Morning last weekend amid rumours that he had fallen out with co-presenter Holly Willoughby. And on Friday night, May 26, he revealed that he had an 'on-off relationship', he admitted that he had lied to his wife, his agent and viewers.

He told the Daily Mail: "That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over."

The lengthy statement stated: "I did have a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning. Contrary to speculation, whilst I met the man when he was a teenager and was asked to help him to get into television, it was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than just a friendship."

The Mirror confirmed earlier that his former talent agency YMU parted ways with the presenter on Thursday (May 25). He is also reported to have left ITV.

Vanessa was presenting her programme and chatting with guest Nigel Pauley when the statement was released. Vanessa kept composed throughout the chat and nodded her head as her guest discussed the contents of the statement.

She started by saying: "... They haven't done anything to harm any members of the public, they've just presented a daytime television show, so I feel it's only right to say that since I truly think that and I know them both and like them both."

Nigel added: “If an agent drops someone and uses the words honesty and integrity, that’s not good."

Talent agency YMU said it had dropped Schofield following the presenter’s admission.

In a statement, Mary Bekhait, chief executive of the YMU Group, said the agency has “parted company” with Schofield “with immediate effect”.

The statement added: “Honesty and integrity are core values for YMU’s whole business, defining everything we do. Talent management is a relationship based entirely on trust.

“This week, we have learned important new information about our client Phillip Schofield. These facts contradicted what Phillip had previously told YMU, as well as the external advisors we had brought in to support him.

“As a result, on Thursday we agreed to part company with Phillip, with immediate effect.”
