Van Jefferson is making his season debut against the 49ers, giving the Rams offense a much-needed spark. Ben Skowronek has done a decent job as the No. 3 receiver, but Jefferson should immediately unseat him as the third option alongside Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson.
Jefferson practiced all week but the Rams haven’t officially activated him from IR. That will happen soon, Sean McVay confirmed Friday, and Jefferson will have his normal workload against the 49ers.
If last season is any indication, Jefferson can expect to play about 80% of the offensive snaps. That would mean a significant decrease in playing time for both Ben Skowronek and Brandon Powell.

Matthew Stafford and McVay are both excited to get Jefferson back, expecting him to provide a positive impact on offense. Stafford said that while he’s clearly a deep threat, he’s also a receiver who can “do it all.”
The timing of his return is perfect too, with the 49ers on deck.
