Van driver killed and three in hospital after A9 crash

A VAN driver has been killed following a four-vehicle crash on the A9 on Tuesday.

The 49-year-old driver of a Peugeot Bipper was involved in a crash with a white Scania lorry, a blue Ford Focus and a Honda HRV near Ballinluig.

Police have confirmed he was pronounced dead at the scene while the 26-year-old male driver of the lorry, the 36-year-old female driver of the Ford Focus and the 66-year-old driver of the Honda HRV were taken to Ninewells Hospital.

The road was shut for around 10 hours while investigations were carried out.

Constable Mike Gauld said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this difficult time.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, and who has not already spoken to officers, to get in touch.

“I would also appeal to anyone who was driving in this area around that time and who may have dash cam footage which could assist us to contact us.”
