A van driver who couldn't be bothered driving 10 minutes to a recycling centre has been stung with a hefty bill for fly-tipping.
Liverpool City Council has continued its public shaming of those who choose to dump items around the city. The local authority has been regularly posting images of those who have been caught on camera in recent weeks.
The latest post shows a white van on a street in the Everton area. The CCTV image shows a number of individuals in the process of carrying a mattress from the van to be dumped on land nearby.

In its post, the council states: "10 minutes to a local recycling centre but fly-tipped mattress from van plus some other furniture. Caught on council CCTV, letter on way to owner, now facing £400 fine." The statement added: "Keep Liverpool Tidy and keep your money."
Speaking about its campaign against fly-tipping, Cllr Liam Robinson, Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: “It’s a big bugbear of mine and I know everyone hates to see any fly-tipping but thanks to investment in CCTV the city council is now able to pursue individuals.
"Under our new Keep Liverpool Tidy programme there’s a renewed focus on fly-tipping and I would suggest people really need to ask themselves, is a £400 fine worth the hassle? And that could rise even higher depending on the case. The city council provides bulky waste collections and have recycling centres for big items. All I would say is use them. They are free.”
