The long-awaited price of the Steam Machine is here and it has – unfortunately and expectantly – cleared the $1,000 mark for the least expensive model. It’ll be for sale starting on Monday, June 29.
Valve, the company behind the ubiquitous Steam platform, has dipped their toes into creating gaming hardware with products like the Steam Deck (which was recently subjected to a massive price hike) and the Steam Controller with great success. Now, the Steam Machine is next on the horizon and fans have been braced for months for the price to drop.

Steam Machine will cost over 1K
The Steam Machine will come in four different models, depending on how much storage players want and if they need a controller bundled. From least to most expensive:
- Steam Machine with 512GB – $1,049
- Steam Machine with 512GB plus controller – $1,128
- Steam Machine with 2TB – 1,349
- Steam Machine with 2TB plus controller – $1,428
Even if most fans will balk at the price, it’s likely that the Steam Machine in all of its forms will sell out almost immediately, like the Steam Deck did even after the price jumped from $549 to $789 for the cheapest model.
To counteract what will likely be a hot commodity for scalpers, Valve will implement some restrictions on who and how the Steam Machine can be purchased next week.
How to buy a Steam Machine
To buy a Steam Machine, interested customers will have to sign up ahead of time using their Steam account and meet the following requirements: a Steam account in good standing with a purchase on that account prior to April 27, 2026.
Those accounts will only be able to buy one Steam Machine as an additional way to counteract any scalping. After being signed up, customers will be placed in a line that will email them once a Steam Machine is ready to buy, taking away the rush to load a website faster than everyone else in the world. At that point, all they’ll have to do is finish the transaction and fork over 1K. Easy peasy.
To register, just go to the Steam Machine page on Steam and sign up using your account.
