GO for Gold in the Ayr Silver Cup.
ABERAMA GOLD (2.30) was fifth in this race two years ago and he is much lower in the weights this time.
He’s also run well in his other four visits to this course, including a course-and-distance nursery win at this meeting when a two-year-old.
Keith Dalgleish’s hope was twice runner-up here earlier in the summer and he ran well when a close fifth behind subsequent Listed winner Gale Force Maya at York.
You do have to forgive two below-par efforts on the all-weather but he was stuck out wide at Lingfield and his disappointing Newcastle effort came at a track he’s never liked. Have 1pt each-way at 20-1. Most bookies are paying out on six places with Sky Bet stretching to seven.
ZARZYNI (3.40) hasn’t run over 6f since March and he’s looked in need of a return to the Ayr Gold Cup trip. He had little chance from a poor draw over York’s sharp sprint track last month but his form earlier in the season reads very well.
His Musselburgh defeat of some decent horses was followed by a close fourth behind smart Khaadem in the Group 3 Palace Stakes at Newmarket.
There was nothing wrong with his Ascot third behind Mountain Peak when he again seemed sure to appreciate returning to 6f. He’s also drawn near plenty of pace today. Have 1pt each-way at 20-1. Most bookies are paying out on six places with Sky Bet stretching to seven.
There should be plenty of early pace in the Dubai Duty Free Legacy Stakes at Newbury. That will suit smart filly STAY ALERT (1.40). She tends to pull too hard for her own good but she’s still put in some notable efforts.
Her second behind subsequent Nassau Stakes heroine Nashwa at Newbury in May was a smashing run and she returned to this track to land a Listed race the following month.
It was no disgrace to finish fifth in the Lancashire Oaks as that was a red-hot race and she was poorly positioned. I’ve no doubt she is going to be up to this Group 3 level and she should be able to show how good she is following a midsummer break. Have 2pts each way at 11-1.
