It should pay to go into the Weatherbys Super Sprint with plenty of Hope.
There’s 21 inexperienced two-year-olds lining up for the Newbury contest so it might look like a minefield but DARE TO HOPE (3.30) has what it takes to land this sales race. The form of his debut win over 5f at Nottingham could not have worked out much better. Runner-up Rocket Rodney went on to finish second in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot before bolting up in a Sandown Listed race.
The step up to 6f didn’t suit Dare To Hope at Ripon on his second start but he was far from disgraced in going down by a shorthead when trying to give weight away all round. His trainer Richard Fahey has won this race three times in the last nine years so he knows exactly what it takes to land this prize. Have 2pts each-way at 16-1. Several bookies are paying out on five places.
The Bet365 Hackwood Stakes is a competitive Group 3 sprint and SAINT LAWRENCE (2.56) looks overpriced for in-form trainer Roger Varian. He’s been running with credit over 5f this season but I’ve no doubt he’ll appreciate the extra furlong of today’s race.
The way he stayed on behind Aussie speedster Nature Strip in the closing stages of the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot was most promising. This lower grade and longer distance should do the trick. Have 2pts each-way at 20-1. Most bookies are paying out on four places with Sky Bet stretching to five.
Earlier on Newbury’s card, TASMAN BAY (1.50) is a good bet to pinch the Listed Bet365 Stakes. He looks sure to get his own way out in front and that would give him a great chance.
It was a completely different story at Royal Ascot as he went way too fast when taken on for the lead in the Wolferton Stakes before, predictably, fading right out. That was his first run of the season so he should be sharper today and he has a great chance on last season’s placed efforts behind top performers Hurricane Lane, Baaeed and Dubai Honour.
Have 1pt to win at 8-1.
