IT should pay to go with the flow and follow MILL STREAM (3.00) in the Betfred Nifty Fifty Sandy Lane Stakes.
He won his debut as a two-year-old last season when landing a 6f Doncaster maiden before running smart Noble Style close at Newmarket.
That form is good and he simply didn’t stay 7f when fourth behind subsequent 2000 Guineas hero Chaldean in the Acomb Stakes at York’s Ebor Meeting last summer.
He could be a sprinting star this season and he should be ready to fire on his first start of the year, especially as his trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam has hit form in recent weeks.
With eight runners set to go to post, have 2pts each-way at 16-1.
The Betfred Temple Stakes has attracted a decent field and I’m keen to take on The Platinum Queen as she might not have improved much from her juvenile campaign last year.
ROYAL ACLAIM (3.30) won his first three starts and he wasn’t disgraced in last year’s Nunthorpe Stakes despite losing his unbeaten record.
He went off favourite for the York Group 1 but he was drawn on the wrong side, so it was a long way from a poor effort.
The ground was too soft when he finished third in a French Group 3 on his final start of last season but he still ran well. Have 2pts win at 13-2.
Earlier on the card, another horse making his comeback looks worth supporting in the Betfred Silver Bowl.
BODORGAN (2.25) hasn’t been seen since bolting up on Newmarket in October but, with his trainer Charlie Hills in good form, it is worth chancing his fitness.
His earlier close third behind Enfjaar makes him nicely treated for his handicap debut and the booking of Hollie Doyle is another positive. Have 1pt each-way at 14-1. Several bookies are paying out on four places.
At Goodwood, I like the look of PRAIRIE FALCON (2.05).
He beat a couple of smarts sorts over this course and distance last year and his two starts this season came when trainer Michael Dods was struggling for winners. He’s in much better form now.
The faster ground is ideal and he looks sure to get the strong pace he likes. Have 1pt each-way at 12-1. Most bookies are paying four places with Sky Bet stretching to five.
