Riot Games showcased VALORANT‘s Agent progression overhaul, replacing the Agent Gear progression tracks with the Agent Mastery system. It provides more rewards and ways to showcase your dedication to an Agent.
Agent Mastery is launching with VALORANT Patch 13.06 on Sept. 22, alongside the new weapon and mode. The system is designed to give you new goals to chase throughout your career as well as every Act.
Agent IDs and Agent Mastery
Agent IDs are a new customization feature in VALORANT that showcases your dedication to a specific Agent. You can customize different elements of the Agent ID and, over time, create a profile that truly shows who your main is.
Things that you can add to the Agent ID include:
- Backgrounds
- Poses
- Frames
- Quotes
- Trackers (e.g., kills, hours played, games won, etc.)
These customization options, alongside regular cosmetics like player cards and sprays, are tied to the lifetime mastery rewards track. To progress the track, you must play that specific Agent and earn Mastery Points (MP). MP gains are based on time played, with bonuses awarded based on performance and match outcomes.
Alongside the lifetime levels, VALORANT introduces Agents’ Act levels. It’s a separate progression track that resets each Act and awards Agent portrait upgrades. It serves as a simple way to show your teammates which Agents you’ve been playing this Act.
With the Agent Mastery launch, old Agent Gear transitions into the new system. You get to keep all the rewards you already unlocked, and everything you haven’t unlocked yet will still be available on the new progression tracks.
Competitive Flex coming in 2027
Apart from the Agent Mastery system, Riot promises Competitive improvements to better celebrate and display your achievements with Patch 13.06. At the start of 2027, VALORANT also introduces a new long-awaited Competitive reward: Competitive Flex.
Competitive Flex is an item that evolves throughout the year based on your ranked achievements and unlocks additional upgrades with each Act. This way, you have your year-long journey compiled into one ultimate reward.
