Riot Games has announced that Team Deathmatch will be arriving in Valorant alongside the newest season of the game.
It's just over 10 days until Valorant Episode 7 Act 1 launches, but Riot Games is getting the party started early. Not only is the in-game progression system getting an update when Valorant Episode 7 Act 1 launches on Tuesday, June 27 but the long-awaited Team Deathmatch game mode will be arriving alongside Episode 7 Act 1.
Team Deathmatch will consist of three new custom maps built specifically for the new mode. As opposed to the Counter-Strike inspired main game, players will get to choose their loadout at the start of the match or whenever they're in a spawn room, and the first team to get 100 kills wins the game. The maps are kitted out with weapon spawners as well as recovery and ultimate orbs. Matches play out with four timed stages, no econ, and players respawning every 1.5 seconds.
Riot Games detailed these changes and more in the Let the games begin video on the Valorant YouTube channel, where the team delved deeper into some of the major changes coming to the game in Valorant Episode 7 Act 1.
We've seen multiple game modes hit the Valorant scene over the years since its launch back in 2020 all proving insanely popular, including Replication, Spike Rush and my personal favourite – Deathmatch. The current Deathmatch mode is a 12-man free-for-all mini-game and has exploded in popularity as a warm-up game as it allows you to practise headshots.

Major progression
Not only is a brand new mode coming to the game in the next season of the game, but Riot Games has also overhauled the in-game progression. Players are being offered up new ways to earn rewards, including reworked daily missions. New daily milestones are being added to the game in the form of Checkpoints, as well as a new in-game currency called Kingdom Credits which can be used to unlock agent recruitment events, accessories, and more.
As great as the current progression system is, it can be a bit lacklustre for those who have already unlocked all of the agents whether that's through playing the game or through being an Xbox Game Pass subscriber. This new system means those dedicated players are able to feel like they're progressing through the game, even when playing unrated games.
